Verse in a Song

Years they go by
Adding up memories
Was it a disco night or a Mo Udal rally
Either and both didn’t last long
Only verses in a song

Why can I paint
And see my first kiss
Behind the garage near the park
Right off of Waldo Boulevard
What was her name now just a pawn
And just a verse in a song

I’m not an early riser
But my heart would pound for her
As I waited for the bus;
A bouncy packet of the energy
Dark eyes, brown hair so long
What's left is this verse in a song

Chaotic as can be
A little nympho was she
She became a friend who I left in he end
I still wonder if we stayed around
Yet now only a verse in a song.

Prayers are answered
And of course its her
We went from teasing to pleasing
Warm nights, cold butts, and years long
We are more than a verse in a song

Now platonic love
Does fit like a glove
Safely I’m old and allowed to hug
Many fine spirits and oh so young
They live my last verse in song

note some write an autobiographical memoir, some write a song.  I've done the later.

Crazy Enough for You

When its 1 o’clock and I’m all spent
You’re still all smiles and won’t relent
Another round or maybe two
Because I’m crazy enough for you

Tonight this chick flick has three men in it
And I am one of them and proud of it
We’ll laugh and cry too
Because I’m crazy enough for you

You open the door and scream “Snake!”
Without thinking I go and grab the rake
Was I dumb or just a fool
At least I’m crazy enough for you

Many guys have a way of shutting up
You know me, I’ll just make the words up
Sometimes they’ll catch you too
You know, I’m crazy enough for you

Really didn't think this was going to be a song... picked up a guitar and it wrote itself.

Lucky dog

I am a copy of my old man
One that flirts with every pretty miss
You can trust me I’m no Peter Pan
I’ll sometimes hug, but never do I kiss

Why don’t we spend some time?
Crying about a show.
Why don’t we talk a while?
About your favorite Bordeaux
That dress that Margret wore
Or what veggie you will grow.
Girl you got a friend
And I really want to know.

I am lucky dog, a trait I hold dear
Just lead me for a walk, throw me a smile.
I’ll sing you up a song, not loud but clear
Maybe a Dylan tune, but always worthwhile.

So you’re in Paradise
Hallelujah my friend
So when Johnny died
Did you Cry Cry Cry
Or sat alone in blue
Just tangled up again
Which tune you’d like to hear.
Knock twice for a Dylan.

I am a copy of my old man
One that flirts with every pretty miss
You can trust me, I’m no Peter Pan
I’ll sometimes hug, but rarely do I kiss

I decided to make this a spoken word piece on Bones  CD by Lucky Dog.

Here was it sounded like as a song.

Don't Screw it Up

Chorus
Don't screw it up, again
You have the right plan
just take her by the hand
And don't screw it up again

That night at the bar
I knew you were a star
From the way you walked in
to the dimple on your chin
My heart did flutter
To find words that mattered

Chorus

We ain't 21 anymore
You're looking good at 34
We are both on our second try,
No need to ask why
Let's make our own lovers tale
I'll get you another pale ale

Chorus

Those nights you need a friend
Just to make the silence end
I'm a little bruised and dent
From the years I've spent
But let me open the door
There's so much life in store
