I’m good with the crumbs of your life
As you add layer and layer of icing
The base holds a strong foundation
Where once I was offered a huge slice
I'm content to lick my fingers of icing
With joy and jubilation
Yes I would relish a full serving
An hour of talking and listening
Till then, my crumb celebration

Sconnie Girl
You are one smart woman
You wear freckles as your tan
Like stone beads over pearls
You are my Sconnie girl
When it comes to cheese
You say a little extra please
You won’t wear it as a bra or hat
But see nothing wrong with that
You never worry about the cold
Cause you have a new hat to show
When the last blizzard came
You said "rather snow than hurricane."
Spring means biking again
A brisk shot of cold wind
You live here for a reason
Just love the change of seasons
You prefer Brown to an IPA
Goes down easy on a summers day
Just sit back and watch the river go bye
And listen to some good music live
You know fall will bring football
Badgers and Packers and all
Still you will find time to ride
50 and sunny no time to hide inside
You are one smart woman
You wear freckles as your tan
Like stone beads over pearls
You are my Sconnie girl

Angel in Disguise
We all encounter angels young and old who we need to watch over; while they grace us with their presence. This song was on my mind recently, here is the instrumental track... my voice will never do the song or the angels justice so we'll leave it hear.
You’re an angel in disguise
With unusual brown eyes
You’re a child not in the fold
But a piece of heaven to hold
Your many faces change and shine
With a gentleness so kind
When passing by please hear a prayer
Let me stand and protect her
Take a stand and clear a space
Where it’s safe for her to grow
Stand in back and let her know
True love is hard too show.
You’re an angel in disguise
Beauty masking any whys
My hope to you is that a smile
Light your life’s many miles
And if chance just stop to pray
You’re a gift from God today
If you take your wings to flight
He’ll show you brilliant in the night.
Take a stand and clear a space
Where it’s safe for her to grow
Stand in back and let her know
True love is hard too show.

Keep living deep in love

It’s priceless to hold your hand.
You are a precious gift of life.
You are the smile on my face.
It’s senseless to live without you.
Time or distance tries to separate,
Rhyme and sentences bring you back.
So I sit with words in black and white
Left to flesh the feelings out
Then I sit with adjectives abound
Silently I sit wanting to shout.
But I write you these dear words,
“Keep living deep in Love”

Note: Thanks for making this my most viewed post, only confirms that love still runs deep.

My inspiration
You are my inspiration
A muse,
Unbounded exhilaration.
Your smile
Demure yet accented by
Those eyes
A window to bold intrigue
I pause
Though you are three steps
ahead
With plans
Fabric in Venetian red
You reach
For my hand and say
quickly
What if,
But I’m lost completely
Alas
You are my inspiration,
Though near
I fight for inhalation.

Indelibly
Incredibly soft.
Yes that’s how I know
Your lips, your hair.
Indelibly graceful
You, as you pass by
Mere feet away
Stunningly simple
Earth tones suit you well
From the sweater to scarf
Suspiciously quiet
In the middle of the dim
You’re the eye of my heart
Purely joyful
Pull up a chair and rest
Smile and raise a glass
With me.

Lady Mary & Matthew (Season TWO)
Lonely the flower the blooms first in spring
Lonely the lady with no wedding ring
Stately she stands in gown so devine
Gently she weeps for him night after night
Mary’s a vision and he loves her dear
Pride and misfortunate has kept him from her
Fills with delight as he sees her each time
When will they be one he says in his mind
Humbly the servant prepares her to dine
Glances and pauses reveal her disguise
Matthew is coming; she’s brimming inside
Stoically she moves showing only her pride.
Precise the setting, and superb the wine.
Nothing compared to Mary at his side
Polite the manners, and coyly she smiles
Warming the eve in this cool British Isle.
The ballroom is empty; they stand face to face
He says it’s time to love and the past to erase
Snow falls and she smirkly says take a knee
Only to embrace with a passion so free.
Written by Dave Schipper to the Slane melody originally publish in Be thou my Vision in 1902 © 2012 Rose Riversongs. I published this first on Febr. 10, 2012 and today I sit a little over a year later thinking I must write a Season three reprise. It hard when the ending is much more blue; so we'll see if it happens.
Here's the melody that the piece is written to.
I couldn't help myself from singing it.... since I wrote as I was singing it.

River Kate
We’re struck by the moon, listenin to the loon
A backwater tune that leaves us to soon
Oh River Kate
Let’s stay out to late, says the moon and the lake.
Oh River Kate
Got some time to wait, It’s sure no mistake.
The stories to tell, neath the old willow.
They got the same feel, as our own pillow.
Leave the bills behind, you don’t need a dime
I’ve got some wine, and we’re doin’ fine.
Midnight eyes, tender sighs
Warm embrace, little lace
Oh River Kate
Let’s stay out to late, says the moon and the lake.
Oh River Kate
Got some time to wait, It’s sure no mistake.
So we’re just moon struck, sittin in the truck
Whistlin with the loon, then leavin to soon.

Graceful & Grand
Graceful and grand is your beauty
Tender and soft is your white skin
I gaze into your deep dark eyes
To lose myself once again.
There but a moment when we met
You fashioned my heart
In your alchemy
Casted a spell to tear me apart.
You fashioned my heart
In your alchemy
Graceful and grand is your beauty
Tender and soft is your white skin
I gaze into your deep dark eyes
To lose myself once again.
A season must pass until we meet
You stay in my mind
Each night and day
To renew a love more replete
You stay in my mind
Each night and day
Graceful and grand is your beauty
Tender and soft is your white skin
I gaze into your deep dark eyes
To lose myself once again.

If you want love...
If you want peace, fight for justice
If you want love, true happiness
Listen up, there’s no accident
Follow the great commandment
Love others as you love yourself
Forget all those books on self help
Yes peace, love and joy, right in your hands
So go tell yourself where you stand.
If you want peace, fight for yourself
Then harvest love right from the shelf.

Confession of a true romantic
It is with dread I tell my story; my confession.
As I open myself to the honesty of consequences.
Addicted, I must avoid the public places of life
Anytime I sit in the open, it’s mere moments
And I’m lost in romance of another stranger.
These novelettes are one sided but each unique.
The cotton print of the blushing brunette
The piercing eyes of the gray hair beauty
The pug braid accentuating her long neck
And I’m lost in the unfolding love and danger.
The vulnerability is my haunting pleasure
These souls don’t realize their power over me
I’d be on bended knee in a flash if they knew.
A mere sentence or two would pierce a shy armor
Bleeding passion profusely, a life changer.
Though no one is hurt, scar tissue is growing.
Not that this play has no acts or scenes set,
It’s just that the reality of a few minutes
Is dwarfed by the epic played out in my head.
I’m just lost again in romance and I linger.
But drag me through the gutter; I do go on.
And I must admit my saviors are the angels.
I must only be attracted to the true golden ones.
They see this halo of a ring I wear proudly
And treat me as some else’s gift and tender.
Well a leopard can’t change his spots, nor I.
I am blanketed in love from a special woman.
One who knows me for the gypsy lover within
So my heart will skip a beat for sparkling eyes
And I’ll be lost in romance with another stranger.
But I sleep at peace with my true love
With a smile on my face.

Within and around you
God is love and God is grace,
And I see her in your face.
Yet the devil sure can dance
And I see him in your glance.
Painted evenings, misty morns
A veiled glimpse beauty born
Within and around you.
A spark and wild flames ignite
With no shame I lose that fight
For solace in her soft fur
Until we both breathe and purr
Silent evenings, busy morns
The gift of grace you adorn
Within and around you.

Ordinary

An ordinary morning
To pour out words for you.
You are
The rich taste of Columbian.
You are
The cool morning breeze.
You are
The twinkling distant headlights.
You are
The dampness chilling my bones.
If one is special,
It moves in an ordinary way.
You move
To the task at hand smiling.
You move
To the song’s sound slowly.
You move
Me to write these lines
You move
Me to thank God everyday.
I am just ordinary
And you are too, in a special way.

Question?

Don’t we all grow restless?
Like waiting for Santa,
Love, jobs, hope; it’s ageless.
I am waiting also
For answers in my life
Then the questions will slow.
Ok, that’s a pipedream.
Life is a puzzlement
No hard answers to gleen.
Should I be frustrated?
Feel lost in a quagmire?
Or just be comforted.
The sun will rise and set.
Love will answer it all,
And questions? I forget.

Where are you…
.jpg)
Waltz me around the room tonight
Then serve wine by candlelight
You’re suave of course
You prince, you stud horse
Where are you tonight?
That’s thirty years in real time
But you just relived it in your mind.
You’re not gone from me
But we look and can’t see
Where are you tonight?
Waltz me around the room
Then get in a bed to spoon
You’re not gone from me
But we look and can’t see
Where are you tonight?
Tonight you’re on a mountain crest
Ours dogs are not at their best
We slip in our bags
we make love til day
Where are you tonight?
There’s a twinkle in your eye
A fleeting moment , a surprise
Gives way to silence
Confusion is present
Where are you tonight?
Waltz me around the room
Then get in a bed to spoon
You’re not gone from me
But we look and can’t see
Where are you tonight?
