The note

The note gave her three choices
Say nothing and confirm his thoughts
Say thanks and confirm his thoughts
Or open up Pandora’s box

Words all have several meanings

She let it sit for a few days
Then gently opened the lid to say
“You are nothing and everything to me,
Please leave me but never go away.”

She stopped right there and hit send.

Now the world lives in text message
We long for the pen and paper
Time and texture versus rapid words
Her words went unread forever

He died thinking his thoughts confirmed.

Every day

Every day I ask, will it be my last
Will it end in a mistake or with a heartbreak
Run down by a truck or just ran out of luck
Maybe hit by a brick, oh let it be quick.

I live on the defensive and border on offensive
Well I have a shy side, but keep it inside
It comes out with the pen leaving me dangerously open
So I’ll pack it in and smile; blend in for a while

Here’s to the start of the day, look ahead and pray
Yes find the time to be kind
Go walk around in small towns
Then say good night complete; to wake up & repeat

The Question

Who is the answer when there is no question?
Is there a climax when no leading action?
I am grateful for genetic science
And I marvel at Christ presence

I don’t dig deep into the theology
I don’t really care for biology
Wrapped in the warmth of friends
We nurture our children to new ends

Can we help our best traits linger on
In every daughter and son?
Together we must open our eyes
And see that the poison of lies

Step by step, let’s follow a path
To model love rather than attack
Yes love your neighbor as yourself
The answer to the question is good health.
