Ok normally I don't give the story behind these pieces, but this one is too fun. It started with a conversation with a friend Jessie McDonald if I should tag her on a picture. My comment was "You are tagged so much you must feel bruised" This morning I did a quick google to see it anyone had coined that expression and I couldn't find it. Morning commute and news was boring so I turned off the radio, now what could I do with that line. I said it in such a way it reminded me of Dylan's song. I did have to re-listen to the song to get the start of some of the verses, but a good parody needs to match the original as much as possible. I was so surprised that there was a line about being black and blue, it forced me to use my first idea as the 3rd verse. Here are the original lyrics, feel free to grade me on my parody skills, and avid readers know this isn't the first time I've parodied Bob. (Click here for Hey Mr. Tangerine)
Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
I’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on the rollin’ sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothing like me yet
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
To make you feel my love
I actually laughed when I first had to learn the song for a wedding that I backed up Katie Johnson singing, here was a Bob Dylan song I didn't know. Then to find out that I owned the CD and had ignored the song and it was a Garth Brooks cover the bride liked. If you don't know the song, here's a video I put together a while back. I had recorded Katie so she could practice the song than added my voice later. (I referred to it as my beauty and the beast duet. Ha)
